Apple has deployed updated map data for Alaska and the southeastern United States, MacRumors reported on Friday. He tested the update earlier in December and is now fully available.
The revised Maps app provides wider geographic details, with updated buildings, roads, parks, sports fields, parking lots, foliage, swimming pools, walking trails and bodies of water. To obtain its cartographic data, Apple uses its own vehicles equipped with LIDAR sensors and cameras. Apple has been using this method to collect map information for years. Apple has started rolling out its updated mapping app for customers from iOS 12, and at the 2019 Global Developer Conference, Apple said that all customers in the U.S. would receive the improved Maps app from ‘by the end of the year.
