The guy who named the iMac says that the iPhone has the name Sucks

Ken Segall, the man who invented the iMac name, says that Apple has blown it all up with the naming convention of the iPhone – or a lack of convention. He says it is confusing, and mixing Roman numerals with letters, and making those letters seem arbitrary at best. He says in a blog,

The models from last year set new standards for complexity. We had an 8, 8 Plus, X and SE. These are two numbers, one Roman numeral, one letter word, plus an odd numerical gap between 8 and 10. Or, in Apple jargon, between 8 and X.

Now we have Roman numerals and letters, and the chances are that next year will be worse with the iPhone X2. He adds: "Then, a year later, the Holy Grail of bad naming of products will be within the reach of Apple, an iPhone X2S will contain a Roman numeral, a number and a letter, all in one name." Yep . Good luck with that, Apple.
