With a new tab called “Explore,” Spotify became the new home to the TikTok platform and is testing a video feed of imported vertical music videos. Spotify confirms the test but stands short of saying whether the test will see a wider drop down the line, speaking with TechCrunch ih revealed.
“At Spotify, we do a number of tests regularly to improve our user experience,” a company spokesman told the publication.
“Some of those tests ended up paving the way for a broader user experience and others functioning as a core discipline only. We have no other news to share at this time. ”
The test was discovered by Chris Messina, who told TechCrunch that he found the feature in the TestFlight facility, which is a preview project that includes features that are either being tested or working on.
Video feeds allow you to navigate vertically up or down, and tap videos to like them. You can also learn more about the song by tapping on the three-dot menu, which brings up the details.
Messina noted that the new feed uses the Canvas Spotify format that allows artists to create videos that follow their tracks. The videos used for the show appear to be Canvas videos by artists but Spotify does not confirm this.
