Why is Apple also selling these products in 2022

I wrote an opinion piece a year ago explaining why Apple should discontinue the Apple Watch Series 3. As it turns out, the Series 3 is still being developed by Apple for a reason – but not the only home product -work should be left out. Why is Apple still selling these products in 2022? Yes, Apple continues to sell Apple Watch Series 3. I understand that it is now an entry level model for people who do not already have an Apple Watch, and the $ 199 price point is very sweet. The Series 3 experience in 2022, on the other hand, is far from ideal.

Unlike the Apple Watch SE, with which it released a few premium features like regular display and ECG, the Apple Watch Series 3 is outdated by today’s standards. The display is also the same as the original Apple Watch – more square, with larger bezels – and does not support many screens introduced with newer versions of watchOS.

But more than just the display and visual effects, the Series 3 has another big problem: crashing its S32-bit S3. Series 3 is the only current Apple Watch that is also based on older architecture, like the Series 4 and later in 64-bit chips. Although Series 3 runs watchOS 8, it is not clear whether it will need for another year of updates. And when it comes to GPS features, it only has 8GB of internal storage, which makes user life a nightmare, especially when trying to install software updates on the clock. This should not be the first Apple Watch user experience.

Remember the good old days when Apple released a new iPod touch every year to make it a match for the iPhone? Well, those days are gone. The seventh generation iPod touch was introduced in 2019 with the same A10 chip as the iPhone 7 and no design changes. And it has not been updated since. I can’t think of a good reason for Apple to resell this iPod touch model. The four-inch screen with old chips and poor battery life makes it far from ideal for gaming, and doesn’t even have a Touch ID on the home button for Apple Pay. I wrote once that Apple can turn iPod touch into a real gaming device if you want, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Some might argue that the iPod is still there for kids or new iOS users, but why would anyone buy? The 128GB version costs $ 299, and you can find the iPhone SE for similar prices with special offers – and it comes with a larger screen, Touch ID, better cameras, a new Apple chip, and every phone inside. Not to mention that the $ 329 iPad entry level is much better than the iPod touch for someone curious about using iOS for the first time. Last but not least the fourth generation Apple TV, also known as Apple TV HD. The situation here is similar to the Apple Watch Series 3 – It has a product from the last five years that is not only cheap but also does not have the best gaming experience.

In fact, Apple does not know whether it wants Apple TV to be a streaming device, gaming device, or both. For streaming devices, Apple TV is expensive. For one gaming device, Apple TV does not have three-A games. But specifically talking about the Apple TV HD, $ 149 is a bit pricey for a 2017 device that you can stop at any time (did you know that it still runs on the same A8 chip as the iPad Air 2)? Either Apple should stop Apple TV HD and focus on more powerful models, or should the HD model be cheaper for the masses who just want a streaming device.
