The end of September 2020 saw the release of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 equivalent to the iPad. While Apple is better than most at supporting older equipment, not all devices have made the cut. That said, the limit was the same as iOS 13, so if you have it you should be able to get iOS 14.
In other words, if your device is older than an iPhone 6s / iPhone SE (2016), 7th generation iPod touch, 5th generation iPad, iPad mini 4 or iPad Air 2, the system most recent operating that has ever existed will run iOS 12.
