The winners of the iPhone Photography Awards (IPPA) 2020 were ad, with the grand prize to Dimpy Bhalotia from the UK. This is the 13th year of the awards.
Dimpy Bhalotia won the grand prize and photographer of the year for his image titled “Flying Boys”. It’s a black and white photo of three boys jumping off a wall into the Ganges. In one interview with Input Magazine, IPPA founder Kenyan Aktulun says the awards are completely independent of Apple.
At first there was no price and Apple was not keen to promote it. Aktulun maintains that the IPPA is completely independent; Apple is not a sponsor and is not involved in the competition other than to amplify it. He says all submissions and winners continue to amaze each year despite many winners shooting older iPhones. One of the winning photos was taken with an iPhone 4, a 10 year old iPhone.
There are several categories of photos for photographers of all kinds, such as Abstract, Animals, Architecture, Floral, Landscape, Lifestyle, etc.
