iOS: How to Turn on And Use The Emoji Keyboard

At some point in the history of iOS, Apple activated the default emoji keyboard on iPhones and iPads. But for future reference, I think it’s a good idea to know how to do it manually.

You will find these settings in the same location on iOS and iPadOS.

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Go to General> Keyboard.
  • Tap Keyboards at the top. The emoji keyboard is probably already activated. Otherwise, press Add a new keyboard and scroll down until you see Emoji.
  • Now that the emoji keyboard is activated, you can use it by pressing the Smiley icon on the keyboard.
