Apple Music content can be accessed on Alexa devices. Subscribers need to follow a few steps to link accounts and make Apple Music the default music on an Alexa device like an Echo Dot.
Listen to Apple Music on an Alexa Device
Once your device is set up, go to the main menu of the Alexa app on your iPhone. You access the menu by pressing the three horizontal lines at the top left of the home screen.
Scroll through this menu and tap Settings> Music. Then tap (+) next to Link new service.
From there, you can pair Deezer, Spotify, and Apple Music with your Alexa device. Tap the Apple Music logo:
Then press “Activate to use” and you will be guided through a connection process.
Once done, the accounts are now linked and you can play songs, albums, and playlists from Apple Music.
Make Apple Music the default music service on your Alexa device
As you can see in the image above, you must first tell your device if you want to play something that does not use Amazon Music (which is available to Prime customers and is the default on device). This is not the default. The app gives you the option to change this when you link your account for the first time. You can also reopen the main menu and go to Settings> Music settings> Default services.
Tap on it and you will see a list of services that you can set as default. Tap Apple Music so that there is a check mark next to it like “Default Music Library” and “Default Station”.
Then you just need to ask Alexa to play something, and it will come from Apple Music.
