The Apple TV + service was launched in November 2019. Right away, Cupertino started to find ways to get more subscribers. The iOS and tvOS ecosystems were a given. However, Apple wanted to reach a wider audience. To make the subscription service more attractive and accessible, a Apple TV app has been added to some televisions. Some 2019 models in the LG lineup were the first. LG has promised to bring streaming content to 2018 TVs someday, and it looks like the day has come.
Apple TV and LG Home App
After installing the app, users can rent, buy, and watch TV shows and movies from their iTunes libraries. They can also subscribe to Apple channels. Of course, the app also allows you to subscribe and watch Apple TV +.
Can I get the app on my LG 2018 TV?
LG has not disclosed which 2018 TVs will offer the app. On the company’s 2019 lineup, all OLED TVs, NanoCell TVs (SM9X and SM8X), and UHD TVs (UM7X and UM6X) were compatible.
If your TV is not included in the update, there is lots of other devices you can turn to Apple TV app compatibility.
By October 2020, LG’s 2018 smart TVs will also support AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. We expect to see “SK” and “UK” LED models, as well as “B8” to “Z8” OLED TVs, to receive this update.
