Apple is said to have quietly made a change to the way it protects iOS, making it much more difficult to perform one of the most powerful types of attacks on iPhones.
According to a report by Motherboard, the update will make it much harder for hackers to take control of iOS with zero-click exploits.
For those unfamiliar, zero-click attacks allow hackers to penetrate a target without the victim having to interact with anything, such as a malicious phishing link.
Security researchers who specialize in creating exploits for iOS have noted that the change is in the latest beta of iOS 14.5, suggesting that the code will likely be added to the final version.
