TikTok's new CEO quits ahead of US ban

Two months after joining TikTok, CEO Kevin Mayer resigned citing the politics around and the impending ban in the United States, and its impact on the global nature of the social media service.After a spell at the helm of streaming at Disney +, Kevin Mayer became CEO of TikTok in June 2020, but has now resigned ahead of the next U.S. ban on the service. According to BBC News, Mayer has now written to all TikTok employees explaining that they quit because of the policy. He says the nature of his work would have changed significantly when TikTok was no longer licensed to operate in the United States.
