FALL RIVER – Remember Tim Hortons on Newton Street?
It has been at least 10 years since the Canadian fast food, coffee and ice cream, sit-down and drive-thru restaurant was in business.
By late spring or early summer, the vacant building will be operational again, according to city council chairman and entrepreneur Cliff Ponte.
Some Fall River residents may be tempted to call him “Son of Al Mac”. And that wouldn’t be great.
Ponte, who is also the broker and chief operating officer of Keller Williams Realty South Watuppa’s office on Plymouth Avenue, bought the iconic Al Mac’s Diner on President Avenue in 2019.
His father, Cliff, runs the place.
Ponte, 32, in the coming weeks says he will convert former Tim Hortons into Al Mac’s On-The-Go.
In addition to high-quality breakfast sandwiches and more than a dozen home-made flavored coffees, he says the emphasis will be on “speed and precision.”
Ponte calls it “the concept in motion”.
