Intel’s new CEO Pat Gelsinger said the company must “deliver better products” from Apple, which he described as a “lifestyle company,” and says Intel’s best days are “ahead” (via The Oregonian) .
Speaking at an Intel 360 meeting yesterday, Gelsinger derisively implied that Apple is simply a “lifestyle company,” so Intel must be able to surpass its technology:
“We need to deliver better products to the PC ecosystem than anything possible that a lifestyle company in Cupertino. We have to be so good in the future. “
Apple’s jibe comes after the launch of Apple Silicon last year, which began replacing Intel chips in Mac computers. The M1 chip, Apple’s first custom silicon processor for Mac, has far exceeded the capabilities of Intel equivalent offerings, with significantly better performance and power consumption.
