Helping both users and business users worldwide to stay up to date, wherever they are, Google has announced a hat-trick of top production tools upgrades for iOS devices across both the iPhone and iPad.
“If you use Google applications to work on your iPhone or iPad, we are making some improvements to help you stay organized and productive,” Luke Wroblewski, Director, iOS at Google, wrote in a blog post one announcing the news.
IOS Update was originally the new Gmail widget for iOS, after the original version was arbitrarily removed several months ago. Google says it has cracked down on feedback from its users to build a new email widget, which it says will “put more of your inbox on the Home screen” – including subject line and sender name – without the need to open the app or message yourself.
The new widget, which copies the look and feel of your Android relative, will be in black mode, with the option to compose new messages instantly.
Even launching in-picture support for the Google Meet video conference service, allowing users to work together on the move.
This means that users can tap into a meeting on their iPhone or iPad, but also be able to send an email, share a document or do some additional research. Navigating outside of Google Meetings will reduce the app, which you can scale or move around the Home Screen as you wish. Google adds that the imagery will be available to Gmail again “within the next few weeks”.
