I picked up a new MacBook Air with Apple’s M1 chip and loved it so far. It’s really fast and the battery is great. But I faced an annoying problem. Every now and then, for reasons I have not been able to understand, a screensaver will suddenly take over the entire computer, even though I never use it. And, frustratingly, the screensaver renders my laptop unusable until I completely close the screen and reopen it.
It seems he’s not the only one seeing this bug, according to this MacRumors article. Others have shared similar issues with M1-equipped MacBook Air, Pro and Mini on MacRumors forums, Reddit (in a few threads), and Apple’s support forums. And one user on MacRumors said he saw the bug on his 16-inch MacBook Pro, which has an Intel chip, so maybe that’s a problem with macOS Big Sur.
