Details on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 were ultimately provided by Samsung, with the foldable smartphone retailing for $ 1,999.
At a live event on Tuesday, Samsung revealed more details about the previously teased foldable phone. In addition to confirming more technical details that have been leaked over the past six months, the company has also announced the price of $ 1999.
Initially revealed alongside other new releases in early August, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 was described by Samsung, but a release date and price for the smartphone was not available at the time. Samsung’s UK website briefly displayed the UK price for the new model, before it was withdrawn.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 sports a larger 7.6-inch folding screen, up from 7.3 inches, and has a 6.23-inch display on the front. The unit comes with 256 GB of storage. Powered by a Snapdragon 865 chip with 12GB of RAM, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 also includes two 12-megapixel cameras with a 64-megapixel zoom version. Two 10MP selfie cameras are also included.
The main screen has a variable refresh rate of 120Hz, and the 6.2-inch outer screen viewable when the device is folded has a resolution of 2260 x 816.

In addition to being able to select either bronze or black for the device itself, customers can also choose to customize the hinge of the device. Colors available for the hinge include red, blue, silver, or gold.
Samsung has spent time refining the hinge, which may make it stronger. The first version experienced issues with the screen during revisions, forcing Samsung to rethink the design before sending out a modified version months later.
Pre-orders for the device begin Tuesday, on AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. Shipments are expected to begin on September 18.
