Allowing users to complete their own repairs through a new online store dedicated to features and tools, Apple today announced a “Body Repair” program.
The Personal Service Correction Program will give satisfied customers with the idea of completing their adjustments in real time to true Apple versions, tools, and scripts, starting with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineup. The program will show up in stages, adding more fixes and support devices over time. Apple Corps’s Jeff Williams says:
Creating greater access to real parts of Apple for our customers even more selective if it needs repair. Over the past three years, Apple has almost doubled the number of workspaces with access to real Apple features, tools, and training, and now we provide an option for those who want to complete their upgrades.
The first phase of the program will focus on the most common features of the iPhone, such as the display, battery, and camera, but more features will be available later in the coming year. Apple’s silicone Macs with the M1 chip, along with the MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and 24-inch iMac, will be next to join the concept.
The Personal Service Repair program will be facilitated by an Apple Self-Repair website store, offering more than 200 individual features and tools to complete iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 fixes at launch.
Customers wishing to make repairs will first be advised to contact the Repair Guide before placing an order for parts and tools using the Apple Personal Insurance Store. After the repair is complete, customers who donate part of their used or donated back to Apple for recycling will receive credit for their purchase.
