Patented Troll sues Apple for Touch ID, Face ID and Apple Card

An Australian patent firm filed a lawsuit against Apple on Tuesday, targeting Touch ID and Face ID with intellectual property acquired by the late biometrics specialist Securicom.

CPC Patent Technologies in a complaint Filed in the US District Court of the Western District of Texas, friend of the patent owner, claims that Apple’s branded biometrics protected products – Touch ID and Face ID – infringe three patents. The Australian firm bought the IP from the liquidation of Securicom in 2019.

CPC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Charter Pacific Corporation, which bills itself as an investment firm with a focus on biometrics. The parent company on its website …
