Part of the short video feed copied by many other platforms such as Instagram, Snap, YouTube and Netflix found TikTok. And now it looks like you can add Spotify to that list. According to TechCrunch, as the music plays, Spotify is testing a new TikTok feed feature in its iOS beta application that features full screen video clips. Chris Messina, who put the video of the feed in action, first saw the feature.
When available, the video feed comes from the new fourth tab in the navigation bar labeled ‘Browse’. Individual songs can be liked as you scroll through the feed, and there is also a three-dot menu option to increase the options for each song.
Spotify confirmed the test in a statement provided to TechCrunch but declined to comment on whether or not it could see an extended launch. “At Spotify, we do a number of tests regularly to improve our user experience,” a spokesman said.
“Some of those tests ended up paving the way for a broader user experience and others functioning as a core discipline only. We have no further information to share at this time, ”the spokesman added.
The test comes as Netflix has begun testing a similar view in its iOS application to help users explore new content to watch. The ‘Children’s Clips’ feature recently featured content from its kid-friendly shows and followed the launch of such ‘Fast Laughs’ feed earlier this year. Discover feeds appear to build on the existing Spotify Canvas feature, where artists can have videos play alongside their music on the project. The videos that appear as part of the Discovery feed appear to be the same as those used for Canvas.
