February 19 – Six new 17-passenger transit buses went into service in Henderson County Thursday, with 80,000 passenger journeys planned annually for the vehicles.
The new buses run on compressed natural gas to support clean air quality and will replace several older, high-mileage transit vehicles that were plagued with high maintenance costs and intermittent service issues, according to a Western Carolina Community press release. Action.
Funds for the purchase of the six buses came from grants from the Federal Transit Administration and county coffers, the statement added.
