Moog’s Model15 synthesizer, previously only available on iOS, will arrive on desktops as a plug-in. First released in 2016, Model15 is a clone of classic Moog modular hardware with filters, oscillators and envelopes all faithfully recreated for iPad. It is now being ported to macOS as part of a new cross-compatibility feature that allows iOS apps to run on macOS Big Sur and new Apple Silicon Macs.

So while it’s their first true desktop synthesizer plugin, there’s a limit to who can use it and – as we’ve previously reported – many pro audio users won’t upgrade to Big Sur due to compatibility issues, it may take a while. little before it is used more widely. Also, there is no version of Windows. Still, it’s a good start, and we’ll most likely continue to see iOS and macOS merge, with potentially exciting results. Model15 is now available on the Mac App Store and costs $ 29.
