A man who drove over 100 miles to get a Big Mac from a “McDonald’s in Devizes” was fined £ 200.
The 34-year-old from Luton was stopped by police on Estcourt Street Thursday night (January 14) after traveling through three counties to get there in a flagrant violation of lockdown restrictions.
The Wiltshire town doesn’t even have a fast-food restaurant branch and drove about 117 miles to get there.
Having already been warned, the Luton man was fined £ 200 and his vehicle was impounded.
Police said in a statement: “We encourage the public to make sure they are up to date with the latest government guidance.
“Most people across Wiltshire continue to act responsibly and we thank you for that, however, it’s important to protect the NHS that we all abide by the rules.”
