Apple is poised to bring the beloved MagSafe charging technology back to future MacBooks. In 2016, the company switched to using USB-C to charge the laptop. Many users have lost the convenience of using a MagSafe charger that automatically hooks into the charging connection when approached.
The MagSafe charger, while being cool, also served a purpose. If you accidentally trip over the cable, the connector would detach from the laptop. This saved the MacBooks from falling due to magnetic technology. However, after switching to USB-C, MacBooks are prone to falling out again.
A slew of new MacBook Pro models
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to re-launch magnetic charging technology this year. The report says the company is planning to release several new MacBooks with major changes. All machines will reportedly be powered by upcoming Apple chips instead of Intel chips.
