Mac Shop owner files federal lawsuit asking for $ 500 million from social media platform Twitter

The owner of a Wilmington computer repair shop filed a libel suit seeking half a billion dollars from the social media platform Twitter.

John Paul Mac Isaac filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court in South Floridaand he’s looking for a jury trial. Mac Isaac ran The Mac Shop in Wilmington’s Trolley Square neighborhood.

Mac Isaac said the president-elect’s elected son left the hard drive at the store that repairs Apple Macintosh computers, but did not pay for the repairs or take back the hard drive.

He also said he was contacted by the FBI and an attorney for Rudy Guiliani, who in turn is a personal attorney for President Donald Trump.

The contents of the hard drive were later used in an article published by the New York Post. The shop owner said he did not know the content was to be used in the story, nor did he know his business would be identified.

The lawsuit claims that Mac Isaac’s reputation was damaged by Twitter when the social media platform restricted access to a link to the Post story, with the claim that the piece was suspected of being based on compromised content.

Mac Isaac said he was authorized to examine and take possession of the hard drive when Biden did not take possession of it.

Both Twitter and Facebook took action to restrict access to the Post story, which was always available on the Post’s website and appeared on search engines.

Mac Isaac said he was forced to close the shop following threats and negative reviews.

The story of the Post, published in the final days of the election campaign, was seen by Trump supporters as a “smoking gun” that would change the outcome of the race.

However, the story was unsuccessful, with Biden winning an electric college victory and popular vote. Trump continues to contest the elections, accusing voter fraud.

The US House had previously accused Trump of improperly seeking malicious informationon about Hunter Biden. The Senate went bankrupt later authorized Trump.

Guiliani later traveled to the state to deliver the computer and / or hard drive to the New Castle County police. The state Justice Department subsequently turned over the hard drive to the FBI.

Hunter Biden later confirmed to be an investigation by the US Attorney’s Office for Delaware. US Republican senators are also investigating allegations of Hunter Biden’s activity with a Ukrainian gas company and a Chinese company.

Outgoing United States Attorney General Bill Barr he refused to appoint a special prosecutor in the Hunter Biden case. Barr also confirmed that he did not disclose the existence of an investigation into Hunter Biden during the election cycle.

The six-page lawsuit cited a Twitter office in the Florida district as a reason to sue there.

A Twitter spokesperson declined to comment on the lawsuit.
