Mac instances of Amazon Web Services now support macOS Big Sur

Amazon announced that Mac instances on Amazon Web Services now support the latest version of Apple’s Mac operating system, macOS Big Sur.

The company first rolled out AWS Mac instances in December. At the time, instances only supported macOS Mojave and macOS Catalina. Now, Amazon says users can run macOS 11.2.1.

“Starting today, customers can run macOS Big Sur (11.2.1) as Amazon Machine Images (AMI) on EC2 Mac instances.” company said.

Currently, macOS Big Sur AMIs are available in the following regions.

  • US East (N. Virginia)
  • Eastern EU (Ohio)
  • US West (Oregon)
  • EU (Ireland)
  • Asia Pacific (Singapore)
