PITTSBURGH & CHICAGO– (BUSINESS WIRE) –Kraft Mac & Cheese, a beloved staple on American tables for over 80 years, announced today that it is developing and testing the brand’s first recyclable fiber-based microwave cup. Upon completion of testing, the brand will launch a new Kraft Mac & Cheese Shapes variety later in 2021 using the new cup and new design.
The fiber-based microwave mug currently under test is microwave-safe and filled with the same delicious Kraft Mac & Cheese that families know and love. In addition, the innovative mug will eliminate the plastic label thanks to the new direct printing technology. The intent of the design change from plastic to fiber is to reduce the use of plastic and be both recyclable and compostable in industrial composting plants. Kraft is working with external partners to certify and incorporate appropriate recycling labeling to help consumers know exactly what to do with the packaging after enjoying their meal.
