An upcoming iOS update is set to make cyberattacks that require no victim input (also known as zero-click exploits) much more difficult to execute.
As evidenced by the iOS 14.5 beta, Apple has changed its approach to protecting the code running on its phones and tablets, making it much more difficult for hackers to develop exploits that don’t rely on some form of user error. . .
Although Apple already uses a technology known as Pointer Authentication Codes (PAC) to prevent attackers from misusing corrupted memory, this protection does not currently extend to ISA pointers, which are used to inform applications which piece of code to reference.
