Starting with iPhone 11, Apple has added a warning in iOS that notifies the user when the device has a non-original display, which was later extended to third-party internal batteries as well. And now iOS 14.4 will alert users when it identifies non-genuine cameras on the iPhone.
Found by MacRumors and confirmed by 9to5Mac, the second beta version of iOS 14.4 brings a new message that will be displayed for devices with cameras that are not genuine Apple hardware. “Unable to verify that this iPhone has a genuine Apple camera,” the message says. It is unclear whether this will apply to all iPhones or just iPhone 12 models.
Under these conditions, the warning will be corrected in the iOS Settings app, just like the non-original display and battery warnings. The message will likely not interfere with camera operation, although non-genuine components are not of the same quality as original Apple hardware.
