iOS 14.4 to add a warning on iPhones replacing the original camera with a third-party camera

San Francisco, in the second beta of iOS 14.4, Apple is introducing a new warning on iPhones that have had their camera repaired or replaced with aftermarket components rather than original Apple components.

The iOS 14.4 developer beta now generates an error message when it detects a non-original camera mounted on an iPhone, MacRumors reports.

The message, which reads “Unable to verify that this iPhone has an original Apple camera”, can be ignored and does not appear to affect the use or operation of the camera.

According to the report, the non-genuine camera message will likely direct users to a future Apple support document that emphasizes the importance of iPhone repairs being completed by authorized and trained technicians using genuine Apple parts.

As a reminder, Apple’s similar display warning does not affect the ability to use iPhone previously, so this will be the case with the camera warning as well.
