MARION – The Marion Art Center is accepting submissions for its upcoming exhibition featuring works by local high school students as part of the center’s young artist program. Each school-age student can submit up to five pieces for consideration. Students can submit work done in school, but the MAC encourages students to do new jobs – and priority will be given to these jobs – by answering the following theme: Life in 2021: What Comes Next?
“Everyone has faced challenges over the past year, some more than others,” reads a MAC press release.
The center recommends answering questions such as: what comes next? What is your life like after the pandemic is behind us? Are there any moments you would like to reflect on? What experiences, which can be simple but meaningful, are you looking forward to enjoying again? What are you looking forward to when you think about your daily life in the relatively near and pandemic-free future?
The MAC exhibition committee will review all works and select at least one piece from each candidate.
All applications must be sent no later than Monday 15 February.
To apply, students must submit their full name, email address, telephone number, age, grade and submission to firstname.lastname@example.org with “High School Art Show” in the subject line. Alternatively, students can upload all documents via an online form available at marionartcenter.org/on-exhibit. Students can include up to five high quality jpg images tagged in the following format: LastFirst01_Title (ex: SmithJohn03_HarborView). The MAC also accepts short biographies and short artist statements of no more than a few paragraphs.
