Google has launched a satirical business promoting the Pixel 5a headset jacket that mocked Apple, although functionality is missing from Google’s top Pixel acquisitions. The trademark, titled “Our Circle is Full Circle,” features a 3.5mm headphone jack that seems to be perfect on the recently introduced Pixel 5a with 5G. The commercial is a clear parody of Apple’s Jony Ive feature films.
“Calling this perfect-symmetrical, technically, a ‘headphone jack’ might feel like an understatement… but technically, that’s what it’s called, so… accurate enough,” the video description reads. “Look! The headphone jack, on Google Pixel 5a with 5G. ”Google ads are not deceptive with its attempt to parody tone and sound of Jony Ive classic design clips. There are over-the-top emotional moments, including the use of a docking station to highlight the haptic results of a physical headphone station.
However, although Google claims that the headset jacket is “a glorious achievement that has evolved from the past as it illuminates us to the future,” the future apparently does not include its flagship smartphones. While the mid-range Google Pixel 5a with 5G features a headphone jack, the Google Pixel 5 is not. Current rumors also suggest that the upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will also not have a 3.5mm analog port. Apparently, there is only one “future” to Google. Google is also far from being inventive here – Apple’s Jony Ive design videos are a frequent destination for parody. McDonald’s set them back in 2017, following a similar parody on “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in 2016.
