Images of an alleged iPhone 12 Pro device prototype have surfaced online, showing a non-finalized version of Apple’s famous Pacific Blue finish and SwitchBoard operating system.
The images, shared via Twitter by Giulio Zompetti, depict a device appearing a darker blue than the final consumer iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. However, the seemingly darker tint could be due to lighting.
As Zompetti notes, the iPhone prototype also runs a non-UI version of iOS known as SwitchBoard. It is an internal operating system that Apple uses to test system features on new iPhone models.
Some of the utilities that can be spotted in the image include new ones called Astro and Ness, as well as known utilities such as Console and USBHost.
This isn’t the first time images of an early iPhone prototype running the test software have been leaked. This is a rare occurrence, as Apple closely guards unshipped test models.
