ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) notified the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday a petition from former President Asif Ali Zardari challenging the jurisdiction of the NAB for submitting additional references.
A dividing bench composed of Judge Aamer Farooq and Judge Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri heard the petition of former PPP chairman and co-chair Asif Zardari. The desk expressed strong disappointment with the modus operandi of NAB detectives (IOs).
The NAB had transferred additional references in three cases against Zardari, including Park Lane, the mega money laundering scheme and the Thatta Water Supply scheme. Zardari’s lawyer, Farouk H Naek, appeared before the court and said the NAB had presented additional references in three transplant cases. He stated that the anti-graft body did not have the authority to submit an additional reference under section 18 of the NAB ordinance.
