A new study on the amount of personal and private informationon collected by location tracking apps has shown the extent of sensitive informationon collected. Spoiler Alert: It may be time to turn off location data.
Two researchers, Mirco Musolesi of the University of Bologna in Italy and Benjamin Baron of University College London in the United Kingdom, published new discoveries that identified personal informationon captured by location tracking apps using their TrackingAdvisor app.
The app continuously collected user location data and extracted personal informationon, which the users selected in the study would then rate in terms of privacy sensitivity. The results weren’t good.
