Have you recently bought an iPhone and are you relatively new? Or do you belong to that group of people who, despite being iPhone loyalists, don’t fiddle with your phone a lot and, as a result, don’t know much about ways to get things done quickly and easily? If you belong to one of these categories above, don’t worry!
We will walk you through a series of gestures that can reveal some hidden menus on your iPhone and how to access them easily. These menus will help you navigate between apps, search your entire phone, go back to the last screen, access widgets, quickly find shortcuts, or even turn Wi-Fi off and on using shortcuts.
Here are some hidden screenshots you may not be aware of. Once you know where they are, they will prove to be very useful.
Reach the top of the screen without stretching your fingers
This is very useful if you have a large iPhone or small hands. Using an option called “reachability”, you can quickly access the icons at the top of the phone screen without having to stretch your fingers. The “Reachability” option lowers the screen. But you need to enable this option, which is off by default. Here’s how to do it: Settings> Accessibility> Touch. > Reachability (turn it on).
Using the Control Center on iPhone
Swiping up from the top center of the home screen displays recent notifications. But do you know that you can also swipe down from the top right corner of the screen? The Control Center opens, where controls are available for quick access to common functions: turning on the flashlight, recognizing a song with Spotify, turning on / off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, etc. Here’s how to choose what to show in Control Center: Settings:> Control Center> Scroll down and tap the green button next to any option you want to see when you swipe from the top right
Learn how to use widgets on iPhone
There is an entire hidden section dedicated to widgets on the left of the home screen. To access it, you have to swipe right on the screen.
Here’s how to do it: Swipe right across the home screen until you get the widget panel with the search bar> scroll down and tap “Edit”> press the + button> choose widget> tap Add widget.
In case you don’t find the widget you want to add, you need to do this additional step: after tapping “Edit”, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and choose “Customize”> press the green + button to add a widget .
Quickly switch between apps
To switch apps quickly, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and then hold until you feel a vibration. Swipe right to navigate between apps. Tap one of the apps to access it or swipe up to close it. You can also switch between apps by swiping left or right at the bottom of the screen.
Search everything together on your iPhone
Search apps, the Internet, maps, files, and so on using the iPhone’s universal search menu. Just swipe down from the center of the main screen.
