Foxconn will build a $ 270 million plant in Vietnam for Apple’s MacBook and iPad

Apple supplier Foxconn has obtained a license to build a $ 270 million plant in Bac Giang province, Vietnam, where it will produce 8 million MacBooks and iPads annually.

Fukang Technology will develop the plant, which will be built at Apple’s request in November.

Apple wants to diversify its supply chains away from China and move part of the iPad and MacBook assembly to Vietnam.

Taiwan-based Foxconn, one of Apple’s largest manufacturing partners, has so far invested $ 1.5 billion in Vietnam.

It plans to increase its investment by $ 700 million and recruit an additional 10,000 local workers for the Bac Giang plant this year

Foxconn is also considering investing $ 1.3 billion for facilities in Thanh Hoa province.
