Top Twitter stuff has arrived on iOS after the company promised last week that it would be coming “soon.” It is a feature that creates traffic of popular content on Blue subscription networks.
It has been available on Android and on the web, but now everyone who subscribes to the Twitter payment service will be able to see a summary of what people are reading and tweeting during the previous day.
The high-end is a kind of spiritual successor to a service called Nuzzel, which provides such a compilation via email. Nuzzel was run by a company called Scroll and was closed when Twitter took over the company earlier this year. Twitter said at the time that it planned to bring Nuzzel back, and now there is a very popular feature for anyone who wants to pay a price for Twitter Blue. The premium service also offers users additional features such as the ability to “return” tweets or read unsolicited items.
While Blue Twitter subscribers who missed Nuzzel will be happy that Top Stories are now available on all major platforms, it seems to be a Lite version for those who do not want to pay directly for Twitter.
While it is understandable that unsolicited content is a subscription fee, Twitter Blue as a whole creates the impression that Twitter is protecting important services that should be available to everyone, regardless of the level of Twitter they are using. At that point, Threader (an application that allows Twitter users to read more by sorting their content as objects) was announced on Monday that it has been downloaded via Twitter and will be available on Twitter Blue. While this is good news for Blue owners, the fact that it has a negative payload will not help general Twitter users navigate more easily. It is part of a paid subscription service, but was not available on all platforms when it was first launched.
