Focos photo editor for iOS updated with Apple ProRAW image support

Focos is a popular photo editor for iOS that offers advanced tools to edit images with the depth field captured using Portrait mode on iPhone. The app was updated this week with some exciting new features, including Apple ProRAW image support, available for iPhone 12 Pro users.

Version 2.4 of the app adds support for both RAW and Apple ProRAW formats, which are basically photos taken with no or low compression, retaining more photo details like shadows, highlights, and more. Focus can now edit RAW images with options to fine-tune exposure, temperature and tone map.

The app’s home screen has been redesigned to make it easier to find photos, and now has quick access to File Explorer, where you can browse photos stored in the Files app, iCloud Drive, or any other compatible app. The app interface on the iPad has been optimized and some bugs have been fixed with this update.

Check out the release notes below:

– With the new home page, it is easier to choose photos from albums for editing with bokeh effect. Plus, you can now open photos directly from the Files app. – Added support for RAW and ProRAW formats. You can now adjust the exposure / temperature / tone map without loss and check EXIF before importing RAW images into the editing interface. – Maximum support of 20 million pixels as the output resolution on most devices. – Optimized editing interface designed for iPad with new slide control. – The eraser goes back to the patch tool and also brings a new “restore” brush. – Added left-handed editing mode for iPad. Appreciation for Luis Maldonado. – Fixed foreground bokeh with wavy lines. – Interface problem stuck after sharing images with other apps fixed.

As I once said here on 9to5Mac, Focos goes beyond editing portrait photos as the app also uses AI to create an artificial depth map for any photo. If you like taking photos using Portrait mode, the app is definitely worth a try.

Focus is available for free on the App Store, but some features require an annual subscription of $ 7.99 or a lifetime license of $ 12.99.
