The crowded ransomware market is now home to three newly discovered players who have recently attracted the attention of security researchers and malware analysts, including one targeting Mac users and another accused of a recent attack on the Department of Texas transportation.
Dubbed OSX.EvilQuest, the Mac ransomware has been observed distributed on a Russian torrent link sharing forum in the form of a downloadable disk image file. This file represented a Little Snitch host-based application firewall installer.
