The iPhone 13 will probably already be a powerful one, thanks to the fact that it will have what is likely to be the A15 Bionic chip. But there is another killer feature that could be added to its repertoire: the cooling of the vapor chamber.
According to lead Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via AppleInsider), Apple is “aggressively testing” a miniaturized version of the technology, which is already found in gaming PCs and similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. This means that the iPhone 13 may have enhanced cooling and consequently be able to work its chip harder.
Vapor chamber cooling works by evaporating liquid, typically water, with the heat from the phone’s internal components. This then spreads the heat all over the phone and means there is less risk of the device itself overheating. Less heat means a machine can potentially run faster, delivering better processor and graphics performance in the process.
Many smartphones already have liquid cooling systems and a vapor chamber …
