Pegatron, Taiwan’s leading electronics maker and iPhone maker, will begin operations at a brand new facility in Chennai, sources close to the development told CNBC-TV18.
The company leased 500,000 square feet at Casagrand Industrial Park in Chengalpattu just outside Chennai, where it is reportedly investing $ 150 million or around Rs 1,100 crore. According to Casagrand, the Pegatron facility will be ready for operations in four months.
“Pegatron was looking for locations in India for several months now, before they finally decided to focus on Chennai,” Casagrand founder and CEO Arun MN said, speaking exclusively to CNBC-TV18. “Pegatron leased the space for approximately $ 30 million; work on the facility has just started and should be completed in about four months, ”added Arun.
