At the RACC gala, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak spoke

On Wednesday night, Apple founder Steve Wozniak took the stage as a guest speaker for the 50th Reading Area Community College gala gala at DoubleTree by the Hilton hotel in Penn Street.

Anthony DeMarco, RACC vice-president of college development, explained in September that the college was gifted for a speaker, with the determination that he was not a politician or a genius.

Instead, the grant required someone with a technical background to actually attend a local college.

Wozniak enrolled at De Anza Community College in Cupertino, California, before transferring to the University of California, Berkeley, where he completed a degree in electronics / computer science.

As co-founder of Apple Computer and as a philanthropist for more than 30 years, Wozniak helped shape the digital computer industry with his design of Apple’s first line of products.

In 1976, Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer Inc. with Wozniak’s Apple I personal computer.

RACC was founded on October 1, 1971, with classes held in several homes in the county until 1978, when it came to the former Holiday Inn in South Second and Penn Streets, where it is today.
