Apple sued for offering Telegram in the App Store despite alleged hate speech and extremist behavior

A nonprofit advocacy group slapped Apple with a lawsuit for failing to remove Telegram from its App Store despite the app allegedly allowing hate speech and extremist or illegal behavior, court documents show.

The Coalition for a Safer Web, based in Washington, has accused Apple of allowing “the distribution of Telegram through the App Store knowing that Telegram does not comply with Apple’s developer guidelines and … is routinely used to violate California’s hate speech law, “according to a complaint filed in the Northern District of California on Sunday.

An Apple spokesperson did not respond to FOX Business’ request for comment.

The coalition allegedly sought to bring “the real and imminent dangers of Telegram to Apple’s attention” in several cases, according to the lawsuit.
