Apple promises to fix problems with external monitors in M1 Macs
In an upcoming macOS Big Sur update, you will be able to select multiple resolutions on connected displays.
One of the biggest problems with new Macs this fall with the M1 chip is that far from all resolutions are available for connected displays, which can be a problem for users.
Fortunately, Apple has announced that the problem will be fixed in an upcoming macOS Big Sur update. The fix will likely arrive in version 11.2, which is currently in beta testing and will be released in a final version in early 2021.
If you want to see all available resolutions for the connected display, you can go to System Settings> Monitor and then select the Resized option.
