Maine argued that iPhones should have been taxed at full price as Apple had agreements to recover the cost difference with wireless carriers.
PORTLAND, Maine – The Maine State Supreme Judicial Court ruled that Apple should pay state taxes on the full price of iPhones sold at discounted prices through wireless carriers for a three-year period in its stores in Maine.
The court unanimously overturned the decision of a judge who sided with Apple after the state tax assessor argued that taxes were subject to tens of thousands of dollars.
