Apple News has reached a new milestone with 125 million monthly active users, Apple CEO Tim Cook said on Thursday’s earnings call for the second fiscal quarter of 2020.
This represents an increase of approximately 25 million active users for the news aggregation platform in the first quarter of the year.
The tech giant Cupertino said monthly users of Apple News for the last time in its call for Q1 2020 results in January. At that time, the platform had more than 100 million users.
Apple’s chief financial officer Luca Maestri also posted strong 17% year-over-year growth in Apple’s paid services, which helped boost industry revenues to $ 13.3 billion with gross margins at 65.4%. Several departments set absolute records during the quarter.
The Apple News platform, which also includes the premium subscription service Apple News +, was launched for the first time on iOS 9 in 2015.
