Apple is removing apps like Spotify from the iOS dock

As an iOS developer, Apple Music is pushing the leading rival Spotify from the dock, but Apple denies it is a problem. This process suggests that Apple is favoring its native application on Spotify. However, developer Kevin Archer says this happens when any third party software is in the fourth dock. The practice is not limited to music applications, because Apple will replace any application with a first-person replacement. However, Apple Music took precedence over the dock and even pushed other company applications out of that position.

When you set up an iPhone for the first time, it is already installed with a set of accessories in four dock slots. Users can delete default applications like Apple Music and re-install them from the App Store if desired. As long as our Apple Music application is already installed in the fourth dock slot, it will always be the default to that location if you re-install it. Third-party applications such as Spotify did not attempt to reinstall themselves at the dock because the OS reported the dock behavior. This behavior results from quirk in programming rather than attempting to drive competitors away intentionally. Apple has said it is a bug and the company will ‘look into it.’

The company has been defending the iOS community and its App Store, particularly since opposition complaints ended in an investigation into whether technology juggernauts were empowering shareholders to become their competitors. Among Apple’s top technology executives, Tim Cook testified before the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020.

Cook denied that his company was involved in a “copy-off” scheme, saying it “did not have the highest market share in any market where we traded.” Apple emphasizes that they keep all developments on the iOS App Store on a regular basis and that its rules are open and transparent.

“After starting with 500 applications, today the App Store hosts more than 1.7 million – only 60 of which are Apple software,” Cook’s official statement before the committee read. “Obviously, if Apple is the gatekeeper, what we have done is open the door wide. We want to get every app we can on the store, not keep them. ”He continued,β€œ The App Store comes with the times, and every change we have made is in the direction of providing a better experience for our users and a compelling business world for developments. ”
