Apple is reportedly developing a magnetic battery that would allow people to charge their iPhones on the go.

The battery would attach to the back of the new iPhone 12 with MagSafe technology Apple uses in its latest line of wired chargers, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing people with knowledge of the gadget.

The magnets proved strong enough to stick to phones in internal testing, but Apple has encountered software-related issues, such as iPhones mistakenly saying the battery is overheating, according to the outlet.
