Apple has announced the end of macOS server

It is possible that this is the end of time. Apple has made an offer. It is possible that this is the end of time. Since 1999, Apple has provided a product called MacOS Server, also referred to as Mac OS X Server and OS X Server. However, as Registration points out, many of the more server-based features have been eliminated by Apple in 2018.

Apple itself says that “the most popular server features – Caching Server, File Sharing Server, and Timer Server are integrated with all installations of macOS High Sierra and later, so even more customers have access to essential services these at no extra cost. ”

The main reason anyone would have continued to use MacOS Server is Apple Mobile Content Management (MDM), Profile Manager, which has also been discontinued. (The company has published two supporting materials related to other MDM solutions.)

Apple says that “existing macOS server customers can continue to download and use the app with macOS Monterey,” but the next version of macOS will almost certainly support support for the utility, so Mac administrators should look for solutions selection before too long.
