Evidence continues to grow that Apple likely had a killer fiscal first quarter.
Having argued that the iPhone will be king over the holidays, driving most of Apple’s growth this time around, I turn my attention to the Mac. The category experienced unusually high demand during the pandemic year (see chart below. ) and the 2020 shopping season will probably not be much different.
If so, the iPhone and Mac will likely punch a “one-two punch” on earnings day, likely triggering a bullish reaction from investors.
The year of the Mac
Research firm IDC just released the calendar’s fourth quarter PC sales report. Suffice it to say, the company believes that desktop and laptop shipments are “on fire”.
Across all vendors, IDC records an impressive 26% growth in PC sales, to 96.1 million units. Supporting the idea that personal computers sell at will, the company added:
